Transport for NSW has now completed maintenance work on the Nattai Bridges in the Wingecarribee.
The work involved replacing the bridge bearings and resulted in overnight traffic on the Hume Motorway on Monday and Tuesday being diverted onto the Old Hume Highway.
A Transport for NSW says they couldn't do a contraflow.
Alternative detours will also be considered in the future.
Here's the statement from Transport NSW:
RESPONSE FROM A TRANSPORT FOR NSW SPOKESPERSON:
This work has been completed and was part of routine maintenance by Transport for NSW to ensure these bridges remain in good condition for all road users.
The work involved replacing the bridge bearings, which required raising the bridge and diverting traffic along an alternate route for the safety of workers and motorists.
There are no current opportunities for contraflow but this may be considered in future.
Transport for NSW will also consider alternative detours for this work in future.
