Drugs & weapons charges in Bowral

A man is facing a number of serious charges, following a vehicle stop in Bowral.

Around 2:30pm yesterday, Police were called to Station Street after reports an orange Ford Territory was being driven dangerously.

Officers found the vehicle a short time later, with the 36 year old male driver returning a positive roadside drug test.

As officers tried to arrest the man, he fled on foot, before being apprehended a short time later.

A search of the man’s car allegedly uncovered an electronic stun device, methylamphetamine, cocaine and prescription medication.

The Tahmoor man was taken to Southern Highlands Police Station, and charged with:

- drive motor vehicle during disqualification period;

- learner not accompanied by driver;

- escape police custody;

- possess prohibited weapon without permit;

- supply prohibited drug (three counts); and

- possess prohibited drug.

He was refused bail to appear in Goulburn Local Court today.
