Boral has decided to take action at the old Berrima Colliery in a bid to stop the flow of natural ground water through the mine and into the Wingecarribee River.
Seven bulkheads have been installed at the site following an assessment of technologies and solutions used in other comparable mines around the world.
The bulkheads are essentially concrete plugs and another meeting of Boral's Community Consultative Committee in December will provide an update on any progress.
Alan Lindsay sits on the Community Consultative Committee and says it's good to see something is being done to try and rectify the problem.
