Push for mixed use walking and bicycle track

loop line

A number of residents believe a petition set up to build a steam train track from Thirmere to the Southern Highlands would be better directed towards creating a mixed use walking and bicycle track.

The petition was set up by Liberal Candidate for Wollondilly Nathanuel Smith with the aim of reviving the Picton to Mittagong loopline.

The current line is a very old single rail track, and Bargo Progress Association President John Knyvett says it's one or the other.

However he believes a new mixed use walking and bicycle track would attract more interest and be more cost effective.
