That CATS movie is still happening, and it still sounds bonkers

In case you missed various announcements, the Tony award winning musical CATS is being turned into a movie with the most obscure cast of all time. The movie will feature the dancing and singing talents of Taylor Swift, James Corden, Sir Ian Mckellen, Dame Judy Dench, Jason Derulo, Jennifer Hudson, Rebel Wilson and Idris Elba.

If you're not familiar with the plotline of this musical, basically "The Jellicle Cats come out to play on one special night of the year – the night of the Jellicle Ball. One by one they tell their stories for the amusement of Old Deuteronomy, their wise and benevolent leader, who must choose one of the Cats to ascend to The Heaviside Layer and be reborn into a whole new Jellicle life."

Every single day, I wake up and wonder if today's the day it gets announced as an elaborate hoax, and every day I thank my lucky stars that it's not - because this movie is gonna be so awful, it's great.

The latest news of the movie comes from behind the scenes footage that debuted at CinemaCon. Director Tom Hooper (who you may know as the director of movie adaptation Les Miserables) said the film will deploy β€œdigital fur technology.” Sets were also built three or four times bigger than normal, in order to replicate a cat’s perspective. Basically, the characters will be shown to scale as the size of REAL CATS, and will have CGI FUR. It's gonna be wild.

The movie comes out December 20 2019, which also happens to be my birthday, in case anyone was wondering.
