Bowral Classic coming to town

Thousands of people will flock to the Southern Highlands today ahead of the Bowral Cyclic Classic.

Tomorrow there is the 50 kilometre Dirty Bowral Gravel Ride in the Belanglo Forest and The Crit race around Bowral.

On Sunday 12, riders are taking part in one of the four Gran Fondo loops.

The Event Village at Loseby Park will be open tomorrow between 1:30pm and 6:30pm

It'll also be open on Sunday between 9am and 4pm.

Supporters will be able cheer on the riders as they cross the finish line.

There'll also be gourmet food stalls, live music, exhibitor stalls and children’s entertainment.

Crash at Sutton Forest


A man and woman have been taken to Bowral Hospital with minor injuries after an earlier crash at Sutton Forest.

Around 9:15am two vehicles collided on the Hume Highway in the southbound lanes near Belanglo Road.

Emergency Services have now cleared the site.

Four Paramedic crews were in attendance.

Orienteers to converge on Southern Highlands

Around 300 orienteers and their families will be visiting the Southern Highlands just after Christmas.

They'll be taking part in a five day carnival at locations including Mount Alexandra Reserve, the Belanglo State Forest and the Penrose State Forest.

Orienteering NSW President Robyn Pallas said it will be great to get their maps out again after the covid layoff.

"It starts on December 27 and runs through to December 31 and each day there's a different location,

"It was meant to take place in the Southern Highlands last year, but covid restrictions forced us to postpone the event,"Ms. Pallas said.

Participants will range from eight years of age right through to 80.

Police investigating robbery at Sutton Forest

Police are seeking information about a robbery at Sutton Forest.

About 4am on Wednesday, a professional photographer, a man aged 37, was travelling on the Hume Highway and turned onto Belanglo Road near the Gordon VC rest area to take photographs.

Shortly after, a utility parked behind his car, and two unknown masked men approached his vehicle.

They threatened him before taking a small suitcase containing a laptop, camera, camera equipment, several lenses, with a combined total of around $18,000.

The pair fled in the ute and the man contacted police.

The men are described as being Caucasian appearance.

One was wearing a red hooded jumper, while the second was wearing a grey hooded jumper.

Both were wearing shorts and dark face coverings.

Police are now wanting to speak with anyone with information.

That includes witnesses or motorists travelling on the Hume Highway in both directions between Golden Vale Road and the Illawarra Highway between 3.30am and 4.30am.

Also those those with dashcam vision.
