Young leaders and changemakers from high schools across Wingecarribee Shire will come together for the annual Youth Forum on Thursday 20 November 2025.

Hosted by Wingecarribee Shire Council and facilitated by young people for young people, this empowering event provides a unique platform to voice priorities and identify solutions for positive change in the Shire.

Wingecarribee Mayor Jesse Fitzpatrick said the Forum is an important opportunity to listen to and celebrate the region’s young people.

“The Youth Forum gives young people a chance to share their vision for the Shire in an
environment that encourages leadership, creativity and collaboration,” Mayor Fitzpatrick
said.

“Young people are central to shaping the future of the Southern Highlands. Council is
committed to amplifying their voices and creating real opportunities for them to participate in civic life.

“I can’t wait to see the fantastic ideas and innovative solutions they bring forward.”

The Youth Forum is a direct action from the Young Highlands 2025-2029 Plan. It was co-designed by the Youth Council, and members will also play an important role in co-facilitating activities and leading their peers throughout the day.

Participating students will hear from an inspiring keynote speaker, learn new skills in
activities delivered by the Australian School of Entrepreneurship, hear from local young
innovators, and build confidence in a public speaking workshop.

The forum will conclude with a Pitch Panel, where young people will present their ideas to local leaders for feedback. This Panel will give young people the chance to further develop their ideas for our Shire and apply for a kick-start grant to get their idea off the ground.
