Land and Environment Court hears concerns from Berry Residents

Berry NSW

The Land and Environment Court has heard a proposed $13.6 Million tourist and function centre at Rockfield Park near Berry is not wanted by locals.

Shoalhaven City Council rejected the proposal to build the 42 cabin hotel on Kangaroo Valley Road in 2015.

One of the reasons was because a function was prohibited under planning laws but Camberlee Investments now wants to substitute it for a 300 seat restaurant.

Submissions were heard from nine residents where concerns were raised on the facilities environmental impact, noise and bushfire safety.

Resident Fred Owen also told the court the design change would potentially make it the biggest restaurant in the Shoalhaven with most in the region only catering for 40 to 70 people.

The case continues.
